911 Cellular – Wearable Panic Button Badge (BadgeR+): New Vista Safety Protocol

Overview

To help keep New Vista staff safe, wearable panic button badges are now available for quick emergency alerts. These devices provide immediate communication with coworkers, supervisors, and leadership, ensuring fast response and support when needed.

One key device is the BadgeR+—a rechargeable, ID badge-sized panic button assigned to staff who primarily work on-site at New Vista locations. It functions at all CMHC locations and connects to office Wi-Fi to send alerts to the local team, even if the user isn’t based at that specific office.

Important Notes:

·
The BadgeR+ only works within New Vista offices and may not function in all parking areas.

·
Staff who work remotely or in the community will receive a different or additional device to ensure proper coverage.

Device Components:

  • Small Square Button: Checks battery level and ensures synchronization with Wi-Fi.

  • Large Round Red Button: Used to initiate panic alerts.

  •  Charging Port: Near the red button on the side of the device is a USB-C charging port.  Charging cables are issued with the buttons but can be charged from any standard cell phone USB-C Charger cable.

911 Cellular – BadgeR+ Usage and Alert Types

How Alerts Work

Pressing the BadgeR+ panic button sends a text, phone call, and email to designated management contacts. There are three alert levels based on how the button is pressed:

Single Press – Support Request

– Notifies support staff and office managers
– For non-urgent situations (e.g., a client is becoming agitated and may need assistance)

Double Press – Urgent Alert

– Notifies all management staff
– Used when immediate help is needed (e.g., a client is making threats to staff or themselves)

Press and Hold – Crisis-Level Alert

– For major emergencies requiring first responders
– Notifies all management and connects to an online dispatch service that contacts 911 and shares your location—even if you’ve moved
Tip: For medical emergencies, call 911 from a phone whenever possible to give full details to dispatch

Important Reminders

– If you press the button accidentally, inform management immediately—response teams act quickly
– Staff are responsible for keeping their device with them and ensuring it is charged
– The BadgeR+ battery lasts approximately 3 months—check battery status regularly to ensure functionality
